Thrilling Finish: CSK Edges Out KKR in a Nail-Biting Encounter at Eden Gardens

A Tense Match at Eden Gardens
In a match filled with tension, mock drills, and bomb threats, Eden Gardens delivered an exhilarating game. The Kolkata Knight Riders faced a narrow defeat in their 100th match at their home ground, as the Chennai Super Kings clinched victory by just two wickets. Instead of the usual 'MS Dhoni finishes off in style,' it was Anshul Khamboj who sealed the win with a six, leaving only two balls to spare.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) set a challenging target of 179 runs for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their 20 overs. Key contributions came from several players, with Ajinkya Rahane top-scoring with 48 runs off 33 balls, featuring four boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 145.45. Sunil Narine added 26 runs from 17 balls, while Andre Russell made a quick 38 runs off just 21 balls, boasting a strike rate of 180.95. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 11 runs, and Rinku Singh managed 9 runs before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad. Manish Pandey remained not out with 36 runs from 28 balls.
Noor Ahmad emerged as the star bowler for CSK, taking four wickets for 31 runs in his four overs, including crucial dismissals of Narine, Raghuvanshi, Russell, and Singh. Ravindra Jadeja contributed with one wicket for 34 runs, while Anshul Kamboj also took a wicket but was less economical, giving away 38 runs in three overs.
KKR's innings concluded at a solid run rate of 8.95, but they faced the challenge of defending it against CSK's strong batting lineup.

As CSK began their chase, they lost half their team during the power play, despite a promising start from debutant Urvil Patel. Ayush Mhatre and Devon Conway both fell for ducks, while Ravichandran Ashwin managed only 8 runs and Ravindra Jadeja contributed 19 runs.
Urvil Patel had an impressive start, hitting three sixes in his first three balls in the IPL, but his innings was cut short at 31 runs off 11 balls. Dewald Brevis, a replacement for CSK, played a crucial role with a rapid half-century that eased the pressure on the team. Shivam Dube added 45 runs off 40 balls before being dismissed while attempting to hit a delivery from Arora. The legendary MS Dhoni chipped in with 17 runs off 18 balls, hitting a boundary after Dube's exit.
