Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], May 3: Subhasish Bose, a defender for Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG), has been honored as the AIFF Men’s Player of the Year, marking a highlight in what he describes as one of the finest seasons of his career. The 29-year-old captain played a crucial role in leading his team to victory in both the Indian Super League (ISL) League Shield and the ISL Championship title during the 2024-25 season.

With over ten years of experience in Indian football, Bose expressed his excitement at finally receiving this esteemed individual accolade.

“Having played professional football for a decade, I always believed I would eventually win this award,” Bose stated. “Today, I am thrilled to have achieved this recognition. I aspire to earn more of India’s Best Player awards in the future,” he added.

The adaptable defender not only showcased his leadership and defensive skills but also made significant offensive contributions, netting six goals for the Mariners.

“It feels fantastic to have secured two trophies this season—the league shield and the league trophy,” he remarked. “I take pride in my team, and this season has been exceptional for me, scoring six goals,” Bose noted.

He also praised the advancements in football infrastructure in Odisha, stating, “Indian football is progressing, and the younger generation will only improve.”

“The Odisha Government is actively promoting sports, and the facilities here are excellent. We have conducted national team camps in Odisha multiple times, and the amenities are top-notch,” he added.

Subhasish Bose is now the seventh defender to receive the AIFF Men’s Player of the Year Award, following in the footsteps of notable players like Sandesh Jhingan (2021) and Syed Rahim Nabi (2012). Additionally, he is the first player from West Bengal to win this award since Nabi.
