Ravindra Jadeja, renowned as one of cricket's finest all-rounders, has achieved a remarkable milestone by holding the number one position in Test cricket for an impressive 1151 days. This achievement marks the longest duration any player has maintained this ranking in the history of Test cricket.
The Indian Cricket Council recently released updated rankings, placing Jadeja at the top with 400 points. In the previous season, he showcased outstanding performance, scoring 527 runs at an average of 29.27 and taking 48 wickets with an impressive average of 24.29. His sustained excellence not only establishes the longest reign in this category but also sees him surpass legendary all-rounders such as Jacques Kallis, Kapil Dev, and Imran Khan, who have set high standards in Test cricket. Before Jadeja's ascent in March 2022, Jason Holder from the West Indies held the top position among all-rounders.
Miraz's Rise in ICC Rankings
Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz has made significant progress in the ICC Test All-Rounder Rankings, now sitting at No. 2 following an impressive series against Zimbabwe. Miraz scored 116 runs and took 15 wickets, achieving a career-high rating of 327 points. He is now just 73 points behind the leading Ravindra Jadeja.
The rankings also highlight South Africa's Marco Jansen in third place with 294 points. Australia's Pat Cummins follows closely with 271 points, while Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan is fourth with 253 points. Rounding out the top five is Jason Holder from the West Indies with 249 points. Other notable players include Joe Root, Gus Atkinson, Ben Stokes, and Chris Woakes. Miraz's ascent adds an exciting dynamic to the competitive landscape of top all-rounders in Test cricket.
