IMD Weather Update: Over the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall has impacted East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Coastal Karnataka. The relentless downpour has led to significant flooding in various regions of Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. In light of the heightened monsoon activity, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for several states. According to their latest announcement on July 12, a prolonged wet spell is anticipated across Northeast, Central, West, and Northwest India.


The IMD has cautioned residents about severe weather conditions expected in the upcoming days. People should prepare for disruptions in their daily routines and possible traffic delays due to the rain. Additionally, the public is advised to exercise caution, as this year's rainfall patterns have been both erratic and intense. With the presence of western disturbances and cyclonic circulations, isolated heavy rainfall is forecasted for the following areas:


Rajasthan: July 13–16


Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh: July 14–16


Himachal Pradesh: July 13–18


Uttarakhand: July 13–18


Punjab: July 16


Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi: July 14


West Uttar Pradesh: July 13, 16 & 17


East Uttar Pradesh: July 14–17


Additional regions likely to face heavy rainfall through next week include Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Konkan, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, the IMD has forecasted that the rainy conditions will persist in the national capital until July 18. In their latest update, the Weather Department indicated that the skies will remain predominantly cloudy, with the city expecting light to moderate showers, along with thunderstorms and lightning.
