Rajeev Shukla Set to Succeed Roger Binny as BCCI President

Upcoming Leadership Change in BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is poised for a leadership transition, with current vice-president Rajeev Shukla expected to step in as president, succeeding Roger Binny. Shukla, a seasoned Congress politician, may serve in this role temporarily for three months before potentially running for the full presidency during the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for September 2025.
Reasons Behind Roger Binny's Departure
Roger Binny, who has been at the helm of the BCCI and is a former Indian cricketer, will reach the age of 70 on July 10, 2025. According to BCCI regulations, any official in such a position must resign upon turning 70. This rule was established following reforms recommended by the Justice Lodha Committee.
Consequently, Binny's resignation is mandated in July. Rajeev Shukla, already serving as vice-president and possessing considerable experience within the board, is anticipated to take over temporarily. It remains to be seen if he will opt to run for a full term in the upcoming elections later this year.

From 2011 to 2014, he held the position of Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning. Additionally, he has a long history as the chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has been serving as the BCCI vice-president since December 2020.
