Prasidh Krishna Reflects on IPL Success and Test Series Preparation

Maintaining Focus and Enjoying the Game

After a successful stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Prasidh Krishna is determined to stay focused when called upon by the Indian Test team, while also cherishing the joy of playing cricket. In a recent interview with BCCI TV during the intra-squad match at Beckenham, Krishna shared insights on how he keeps his mental sharpness intact despite the challenges of being sidelined.

“Preparation is key when your opportunity arises, but it’s important not to remain overly focused for extended periods, especially when you’re not actively playing,” Krishna remarked. “It’s essential to find a balance and enjoy the game as well.”

He emphasized the importance of being aware of game situations and providing timely support: “You must be vigilant when the situation calls for it. That’s the essence of cricket; anything can happen at any moment. We all have enough experience to know when to engage and when to relax.”

Bouncing Back from Injuries, Krishna Eyes Test Opportunities

Krishna's journey has been marked by both impressive performances and unfortunate injuries. After recovering from surgery, he made a notable return during the IPL 2025 season, taking 25 wickets in 15 matches for the Gujarat Titans (GT) with an impressive average of 19.52. While it remains uncertain if he will feature in the first Test at Headingley, Leeds, his ability to extract bounce from the pitches makes him a valuable asset in English conditions.

On the Practice Match and Team Atmosphere

Reflecting on the first day of the warm-up match, Krishna provided insights into the pitch conditions and player performances. He highlighted the significance of match practice, especially for those emerging from the India A setup.

“This type of game time is crucial for all of us. Some players are returning from A tours, and this middle time is always beneficial,” he noted. “The pitch has been favorable – it’s hard with good bounce. Bowlers have had their moments, delivering quality spells, while the batters have shown resilience.”

Krishna also stressed the importance of team bonding and fostering a positive atmosphere in the dressing room: “Everyone is enjoying themselves. Many of us haven’t seen each other in a while, and we’ve played a lot of cricket in different setups. It’s about reconnecting, sharing experiences, and keeping the environment light.”

As the five-match Test series against England is set to begin on June 20, the competition for a spot in the Indian XI remains fierce. For Krishna, the focus is clear: stay prepared, support the team, and seize the opportunity when it presents itself.
