Siraj's Stellar Performance on Day Three
On the third day of the second Test match against England, Mohammed Siraj delivered an outstanding bowling performance. He achieved a significant breakthrough by dismissing both Joe Root and captain Ben Stokes in quick succession, marking a pivotal moment for India. Earlier in the match, on the second day, Siraj had already claimed the wicket of opener Jack Crawley.
During the first innings on the third day, Siraj struck in the 22nd over, taking down England's formidable batsman Joe Root. At the time of his dismissal, Root had scored 22 runs and seemed settled at the crease. Siraj bowled a length delivery directed towards the leg side, which Root attempted to play towards fine leg. However, the ball edged off his bat and was caught by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, ending Root's innings.
Following Root's exit, captain Ben Stokes came to the crease but was unable to score as Siraj dismissed him on the fourth ball of the same over. Stokes attempted to play a short ball but ended up giving a catch to Pant, resulting in a golden duck for the English captain. Siraj's remarkable feat of taking two wickets in two balls during the 22nd over was impressive, although he fell short of completing a hat-trick.
