Delhi Capitals Set for IPL 2025 Season

New Delhi [India], March 17 (Media House): Following a brief training camp in New Delhi, the Delhi Capitals team departed for Visakhapatnam on Monday, marking their secondary base for the initial matches of the Indian Premier League 2025.


The Capitals are set to kick off their season on March 24 against Rishabh Pant's Lucknow Super Giants at the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.


Among those who traveled to Vizag today were former South African captain Faf Du Plessis, left-arm pacer T. Natarajan, seasoned batsman Karun Nair, fast bowler Mukesh Kumar, and promising talent Ashutosh Sharma.


The rest of the overseas and Indian players are expected to join the squad shortly as they prepare for the upcoming season.


Earlier today, Du Plessis was appointed as the vice-captain of the Delhi Capitals for the 18th season of the lucrative league.


The announcement was made via a video on the team's official X account, where Faf was seen conversing on the phone, expressing sentiments like, "I am at home," and praising the team by saying, "Delhi has been great, and boys have been fantastic." He confirmed his role as vice-captain and expressed his excitement.


At 40, Faf boasts an impressive record with 404 T20 matches played for various teams worldwide, accumulating 11,236 runs at an average of 32.66, including six centuries and 78 fifties across 383 innings.


His extensive IPL experience includes three seasons as captain in Dubai, leading the franchise to the playoffs twice. In 145 IPL games, he has scored 4,571 runs at an average of 35.99 and a strike rate exceeding 136, with 37 fifties and a top score of 96. Du Plessis, a two-time IPL champion with Chennai Super Kings, was acquired by DC for Rs 2 crores during last season's auction.
