India Shines at ISSF World Cup 2025 with Four Medals in Munich

Outstanding Performance by Indian Shooters
The ISSF World Cup 2025 held in Munich saw Indian pistol and rifle shooters deliver remarkable performances, earning a total of four medals—two gold and two bronze, as reported by a release from the Shooting Sports Federation.
This impressive achievement placed India in third position on the overall points table, following only China and Norway.
India's medal journey commenced with Elavenil Valarivan, a two-time Olympian, who secured a bronze in the women's 10m air rifle event. The 25-year-old showcased her exceptional talent by scoring 231.2 in the final, while also setting a new national record of 635.9 during the qualification round.
Another bronze medal was added to India's tally by Sift Kaur Samra in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions event. The 23-year-old, who holds the world record in this category (achieved at the 2022 Asian Games with a score of 469.6), finished with a score of 453.1. This victory follows her earlier gold medal win in the same event at the 2025 ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires.
The first gold medal for India was claimed by the talented Suruchi Singh in the women's 10m air pistol event. The 19-year-old exhibited remarkable composure, achieving a total score of 241.9 in the final. This victory marks her third consecutive gold at an ISSF World Cup this year, having previously triumphed in Buenos Aires and Lima.
Suruchi expressed her joy, stating, "Winning my third consecutive ISSF World Cup gold feels surreal. The competition in Munich was fierce, but I concentrated on my technique and maintained my composure. I am immensely thankful for the support from my coaches and the entire team. I look forward to winning more medals and making my country proud."
India's gold medal tally was further enhanced by the strong performance of Arjun Singh Babuta and Arya Borse in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. They decisively defeated the Chinese team of Wang Zifei and Sheng Lihao with a score of 17-7 in the final.
Earlier, the Indian duo demonstrated their skill by scoring 635.2 in the qualification round, just shy of the Chinese team's new qualification world record of 635.9.
Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), expressed pride in the athletes' achievements and assured them of continued support from the NRAI. He stated, "We are incredibly proud of our shooters' remarkable achievements at the ISSF World Cup in Munich. Their dedication and hard work continue to bring glory to our nation. We are committed to supporting our athletes as they aim for even greater success."
He also expressed excitement for the upcoming Shooting League of India, saying, "With our shooters making the nation proud globally, we are thrilled to see them compete in the inaugural Shooting League of India later this year, where they will perform on home soil alongside many international stars."
A contingent of 36 Indian athletes participated in the third ISSF World Cup of the year in Munich. Previously, India had secured eight medals—four gold, two silver, and two bronze—in Buenos Aires, and seven medals—two gold, four silver, and one bronze—in Lima. The next leg of the 2025 ISSF World Cup is scheduled to take place in Ningbo, China, in September.
