Job Search Challenges for Indian Professionals


Mumbai: A recent report reveals that while 67% of professionals are eager to explore new job opportunities, many are uncertain about which job titles or sectors to pursue.


Research conducted by the professional networking platform LinkedIn indicates that 65% of individuals can articulate their career aspirations to a friend but struggle with the job search process. Additionally, 64% find the job filtering system perplexing.


The report highlights that two-thirds of Indian professionals are open to new roles but lack clarity on the specific job titles or industries to target.


Moreover, 74% expressed a desire to uncover relevant job positions they had not previously considered.


As job titles continue to evolve and skills take precedence in hiring practices, there is a growing need for job seekers to find opportunities aligned with their skills and aspirations, rather than relying solely on traditional titles or keywords.


This LinkedIn report is based on feedback from over 2,001 respondents, both employed and unemployed, aged between 18 and 78, collected from April 25 to May 6, 2025.
