Gunfire Incident in Odisha's Bhadrak District


Bhadrak: A trader was shot and injured by three assailants in Bhadrak district, Odisha, as reported by local police on Sunday.


The victim, identified as Bidyadhar Patra from Belamala village, was riding his motorcycle home when the attackers confronted him, opened fire, and stole his bag on Saturday night.


Initially, he was rushed to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital but was later transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to the severity of his injuries, according to a senior police official.


Forensic teams have been dispatched to gather evidence, and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to track the suspects' movements before and after the incident.


While the primary motive appears to be robbery, authorities are exploring other possibilities, stated Eastern Range DIG Satyajit Nayak.


He added, "We are in the process of interviewing witnesses and local shopkeepers. Police in the border district have been directed to enhance patrolling efforts."
