Incident Raises Alarms Over Tourist Safety

A recent incident at Dagara beach in Balasore district has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of tourists. A woman was reportedly molested by a group of men while her husband was present, with the shocking event captured on video that circulated widely on social media on Monday, prompting outrage from various communities.

The disturbing footage shows the men physically assaulting the woman and her husband as he attempted to intervene. Despite a complaint being lodged at the Baliapal police station based on the viral video, no action has been taken four days after the incident.

In response, a group from the Dagara Beach Development Committee, led by secretary Nityananda Jena, met with Baliapal police station IIC Gobind Chandra Behera on Monday, presenting a memorandum that called for enhanced safety measures for tourists.

Local leaders, including Sarpanch Satyananda Mohanty and others, urged for increased police presence on the beach and strict penalties for the offenders. The IIC confirmed that an investigation is currently in progress.
