Security Heightened at Amritsar's Golden Temple Following Bomb Threat

Bomb Threat Received Again at Golden Temple
The Golden Temple in Amritsar has once again received a bomb threat. This alarming email marks the second such communication, prompting the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to enhance security measures within the temple complex. Following the warning about potential explosives in the area, both SGPC officials and the Punjab police have initiated immediate and coordinated actions.
Details of the Threat and Immediate Response
Kulwant Singh Mannan, the SGPC's chief secretary, confirmed that the threatening email mentioned the presence of RDX and the potential risk to the sacred site. Although the email did not specify a clear timeline, it vaguely referenced Monday as a possible date for the attack. The SGPC wasted no time in alerting the authorities. Following the complaint, the police commissioner of Amritsar and the local station house officer (SHO) visited the site. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami was also informed, leading to a high-level review meeting to assess the security situation.
Increased Vigilance Around the Temple Complex
Mannan stated that while the email could be a hoax intended to instill fear, "we are not taking any chances." Security patrols have been intensified throughout the temple, particularly around the circumambulation path and nearby alleys. Additionally, CCTV surveillance has been enhanced, and recent footage is under thorough review. Regarding long-term measures, Mannan mentioned that security scanners are being installed at key checkpoints, with progress expected in the coming days.
