Rajnath Singh Highlights India's Response to Terrorism After Pahalgam Attack

Rajnath Singh Addresses Terrorism in Pahalgam

On Tuesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a powerful message regarding the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, where civilians were targeted based on their religion. He emphasized that while terrorists questioned the faith of their victims, India responded by judging them solely on their actions. Speaking at an event in Dehradun, Singh stated, "The terrorists in Pahalgam asked people about their religion before killing them; we did not inquire about their faith but responded based on their deeds." He further elaborated on India's defense strategy, noting that under Prime Minister Modi's "bold and visionary" leadership, the defense sector has transitioned from an import-driven model to becoming a "reliable global exporter." Singh remarked, "The world witnessed this transformation during the recent Operation Sindoor." On April 22, terrorists linked to Pakistan opened fire on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, resulting in the deaths of 26 individuals, most of whom were visitors.

During his address, Singh described the counter-operation following the Pahalgam attack, named 'Operation Sindoor,' as the largest action against terrorism in India's history. He asserted that the Pahalgam attack was not just an assault on the people of India but also an attack on the nation's social unity. He reiterated that while the terrorists targeted individuals based on their religion, India chose to respond based on their actions.

Singh highlighted that over the past 11 years, the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has significantly strengthened national security. He stated, "We have changed both our approach and methods regarding all matters related to national security. The world has seen this change during Operation Sindoor." On April 22, terrorists killed 26 people in Pahalgam, primarily tourists. In retaliation for the Pahalgam attack, India launched 'Operation Sindoor' on the night of May 6, targeting nine terrorist structures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

All retaliatory actions following the Pakistani attacks were conducted under this operation. Singh characterized it as a "major and decisive action" from India. He confidently stated, "This (Operation Sindoor) was the largest action taken against terrorism in Indian history, and I can assert this firmly."
