Operation Shield: Enhancing Regional Preparedness Through Mock Drills

Successful Execution of Operation Shield
Today, the Civil Administration, in partnership with security agencies, carried out the second phase of a civil defense mock drill called ‘Operation Shield’. This exercise took place in multiple districts across Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Baramulla, Handwara, Anantnag, and Bandipora, as well as in various locations in Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
The main aim of ‘Operation Shield’ is to enhance preparedness in areas close to the Line of Control and the International border. The mock drills were designed to refine response strategies in border districts, ensuring that local authorities and security personnel are adequately prepared for potential emergencies.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the drill also included districts like Akhnoor and Samba within the Jammu division. Residents were notified that a simulated blackout would occur around 8 PM today, following the sound of sirens, mimicking a real emergency situation.
Bilal Mohiuddin, the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, emphasized the significance of such drills in equipping citizens for unexpected events. He stated, “Operation Shield is vital for improving our readiness and response capabilities. Through these exercises, we aim to ensure that our civil administration and security forces are well-prepared to safeguard our citizens.”
