New Elevated Road Project to Enhance Connectivity in Greater Noida

A significant infrastructure project is underway in Greater Noida, with plans for a four-kilometer elevated road designed to connect the Delhi-Meerut Expressway to National Highway-9. This initiative aims to ease traffic congestion in the area, especially with the expected surge in traffic due to the upcoming Noida International Airport. The project, approved by the Greater Noida Authority Board, is budgeted at ₹400 crore and is set to enhance connectivity among Greater Noida, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Delhi. As the population in the region is projected to grow significantly in the next decade, this elevated road is part of a broader strategy to improve transportation infrastructure.

Elevated Road Initiative for Improved Traffic Flow

A new plan has been devised to construct a four-kilometer elevated roadway connecting the Delhi-Meerut Expressway with National Highway-9, starting from Ek Murti Chowk in Greater Noida West. This route aims to facilitate smoother access to NH-9 and bolster traffic connections among Greater Noida, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Delhi. Currently, the stretch from Ek Murti Chowk to NH-9 is experiencing significant traffic congestion, compounded by the presence of numerous residential complexes along the route.

With the anticipated opening of the Noida International Airport by year-end, traffic in this region is expected to surge. To address this, the elevated road project has been initiated. In March, the Greater Noida Authority Board sanctioned this project, which has a budget of ₹400 crore. The National Highway Authority has been approached for its construction, and funding has been allocated for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), which is expected to take approximately four to five months.

The proposed six-lane elevated road will commence from a 130-meter-wide road, traversing Murti Chowk, Shahberi, and Crossing Republic, ultimately connecting to NH-9 and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Projections indicate that the population in this area could reach between 1.5 to 2 million over the next decade.

This initiative has been designated as a 'Regional Connectivity Road.' Financial collaboration is planned among the Greater Noida, Noida, and Yamuna Authorities. However, insiders suggest that since the project falls under the Greater Noida Authority, there may be reluctance from Noida and Yamuna Authorities regarding funding. This elevated road is part of a broader array of connectivity projects designed to accommodate the anticipated traffic increase following the Noida Airport's launch, which also includes the Noida Expressway Bypass and the Chilla Elevated Road.
