India Weather Update: Monsoon Progresses with Rainfall and Rising Temperatures

Weather Forecast for June 6

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced diverse weather patterns expected across India on June 6, with extensive rainfall anticipated in various regions. Northeastern states will experience light to moderate showers, with some areas facing heavy rainfall. In contrast, regions in East, Central, Northwest, and South Peninsular India should prepare for scattered rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Additionally, temperatures are expected to rise, especially in Northwest and Central India, where a gradual increase in heat is forecasted. The IMD has also issued early warnings for heatwaves in parts of Rajasthan later this week, providing a comprehensive overview of the weather conditions for June 6.

Monsoon and Weather Systems

The Northern Limit of the Southwest Monsoon is advancing steadily, currently extending through significant locations such as Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, and Puri, reaching Balurghat and parts of northern India near the 30°N latitude. A notable Western Disturbance, characterized by a trough in the middle and upper tropospheric levels at approximately 5.8 km above sea level, is influencing weather patterns north of 24°N along longitude 80°E. Furthermore, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over central Pakistan and adjacent northwest Rajasthan at lower atmospheric levels. These weather systems are collectively impacting rainfall and temperature across northern and western India.
