Efforts to Locate Missing Indians in Iran

The Indian government is actively working with Iranian officials to locate three Indian nationals who have gone missing in Iran. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, confirmed this cooperation during a press briefing on Thursday. He emphasized that the government is providing all necessary support to the families of the missing individuals.

In response to inquiries about the situation, Jaiswal noted, “Our embassy in Iran has issued a statement regarding the three Indian nationals who recently arrived in the country and are now unaccounted for. We are in constant communication with Iranian authorities to ensure their safety and facilitate their return. We are receiving positive cooperation from the Iranian side and are also in contact with the families, who understandably are experiencing anxiety during this time. We are committed to doing everything possible to assist.”

He further clarified that the current case is distinct from previous incidents, stating, “February involved a different matter. We are currently focused on the three Indian nationals who traveled to Iran in May.” The Indian Embassy in Iran has confirmed that the families of the missing individuals reported their disappearance after their arrival in the country.

According to the embassy's statement, India has requested Iranian authorities to locate the missing individuals and ensure their safety. The embassy is keeping the families informed about the ongoing efforts.

In a post shared on X, the Indian Embassy stated, “Family members of three Indian citizens have notified us that their relatives are missing after traveling to Iran. We have urgently raised this issue with Iranian authorities, requesting that they locate the missing individuals and guarantee their safety. We are also providing regular updates to the families regarding our efforts.”
