How Odisha's Chief Minister is Transforming Farmers' Lives: A Look at New Initiatives

Commitment to Farmers' Welfare

Bolangir: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized his administration's dedication to improving the livelihoods of farmers in Odisha during the 'Krushak Shakti Samabesh' conference held on Tuesday.

He highlighted that the government is actively working to boost farmers' incomes through various initiatives.

Majhi pointed out that the BJP government has demonstrated its commitment to farmers by introducing an input subsidy of Rs 800 per quintal of paddy immediately after taking office on June 12, 2024.

He asserted that the current administration is genuinely focused on the welfare of farmers, having increased the state's agriculture budget to Rs 14,950 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year, a significant rise from the previous allocation of Rs 7,000 crore.

In contrast to the BJD government's failure to deliver a promised Rs 100 bonus per quintal of paddy, Majhi noted that the BJP government has made substantial provisions for farmers.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the government's commitment to enhancing irrigation facilities, setting an ambitious goal to irrigate 1.5 million hectares of previously non-irrigated land over the next five years.

He claimed that these efforts have not only raised farmers' incomes but have also initiated a new phase of agricultural advancement in the state.

Through the 'Shree Anna Abhiyan', the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers have seen improvements, with millet laddus now being provided to students from nursery to class 10 in all government schools.

Majhi added that farmers are benefiting from the CM Kisan Yojana and PM-Samman Nidhi, along with input subsidies for paddy procurement during both Kharif and Rabi seasons.

He asserted that no other state offers such extensive support to farmers.

Majhi also noted that Bolangir district is uniquely represented with one deputy chief minister and another cabinet member, dubbing it a 'triple-engine government' that is accelerating development in the area.

The conference also featured speeches from Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Bolangir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, Baragarh MP Pradeep Purohit, and local MLAs.
