Government College Launches Week-Long NSS Camp in Rewari


The fourth seven-day camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Government College, Rewari, was inaugurated by Dr. Satish Khola, the State Coordinator of PPP, at the Community Center in Sector 3. The event saw participation from 50 volunteers and commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the lighting of a lamp.


Notable attendees included the college principal, Dr. Vijay Kumar, along with program officers Dr. Gajendra Yadav and Dr. Akhilesh Kumar, who delivered lectures during the event. The week-long program will involve cleaning activities at Ekta Park in Sector 4, maintenance of water works, and cleaning of the Sector 4 market, along with daily special lectures.


In his address, Dr. Satish Khola emphasized that the NSS is one of the noble initiatives in academic institutions, fostering a spirit of voluntary service through ongoing community engagement between students and teachers. He noted that the work done by NSS volunteers contributes positively to society, bridging educational institutions with the community.


Dr. Gajendra Yadav, the program officer, shared that the NSS was launched on September 24, 1969, as a central sector scheme by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. The NSS badge features the Ashoka Chakra, symbolizing the 24 hours of the day.
