Preparation for the Amarnath Yatra

A trial run was recently held at Yatri Niwas, the designated base camp for the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu, to assess the readiness for the forthcoming annual pilgrimage. Buses were dispatched under comprehensive security measures to confirm that all necessary arrangements are in place. The initial group of pilgrims is set to depart from the Jammu base camp on July 2.

Robust Security Plan Implemented

In anticipation of the Amarnath Yatra 2025, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has established a comprehensive multi-layered security strategy along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), a crucial route for numerous pilgrims. To facilitate a secure and smooth journey, surveillance has been heightened, K-9 units have been deployed, and highway patrols have been reinforced, particularly in the Udhampur area.

Official Start of the Yatra

The pilgrimage will officially commence on July 3 from both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. Sachin Kumar Vaishy, the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, announced that all preparations for the yatra have been finalized. He stated, 'Tokens will be distributed at Saraswati Dham today. We encourage people to participate in large numbers; we will ensure all necessary facilities are available, and no one will encounter any issues. We are fully prepared for everything.'

Safety Drills Conducted

In a proactive effort to safeguard the pilgrims, a joint mock landslide drill was executed by the Indian Army, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force (JKSDRF). This exercise took place at Samroli, Toldi Nallah, along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which is one of the key routes for the Yatra.

Security Review Meeting

On Saturday, Nalin Prabhat, the Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, convened a joint security review meeting in Udhampur to discuss the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled from July 1 to August 9. The meeting aimed to evaluate preparations and enhance coordination among all involved agencies.

Detailed Security Plans Presented

The meeting included participation from Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Udhampur-Resai range Sarah Rizvi, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur Amod Nagpure, and other senior officials from the District Police, CRPF, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and traffic police. The SSP Udhampur provided a comprehensive overview of the district's security strategy, which encompasses force deployment, convoy and traffic management, safety measures for camps and langar sites, emergency protocols, and the readiness of Quick Reaction Teams. The DGP stressed the importance of close coordination among all officers to ensure a safe and incident-free Yatra.

Emergency Preparedness

He instructed zonal and sectoral officers to be well-informed about the availability and locations of specialized teams, such as Drone Units, Bomb Disposal squads, Dog squads, and Quick Reaction Teams, to ensure their services can be utilized promptly in case of emergencies.
