India Faces Narrow Defeat at Lord's

In a thrilling encounter at Lord's, India fell short by 22 runs against England in the third Test match. Chasing a target of 193 runs, the Indian team was bowled out for 170. At one point, it seemed like India would struggle to reach 100 runs in their second innings, but star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja showcased remarkable composure and determination. He scored an unbeaten 61 runs off 181 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six, leading the team in a challenging situation.

Jadeja Joins Elite Company

With his performance at Lord's, Jadeja made history by becoming the fourth all-rounder in international cricket to accumulate over 7,000 runs and take more than 600 wickets. Currently, he has 7,018 runs and 611 wickets to his name. His career statistics include 3,697 runs in 83 Tests, 2,806 runs in 204 ODIs, and 515 runs in 74 T20 internationals, along with 326, 231, and 54 wickets in each format respectively. Jadeja announced his retirement from T20 internationals last year.

Joining the Ranks of Legends

Jadeja's achievement places him alongside cricket legends Kapil Dev, Shaun Pollock, and Shakib Al Hasan, who have also reached the milestone of 7,000 runs and 600 wickets. Kapil, the captain of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, amassed 9,031 runs and took 687 wickets during his international career. Pollock, a former South African all-rounder, scored 7,386 runs and claimed 829 wickets, while Bangladesh's Shakib has accumulated 14,730 runs and 712 wickets.

Consistent Performance on England Tour

Jadeja's bat has been in excellent form during the England tour, as he has scored over 50 runs in four consecutive innings of the series. In his Test career, he has achieved 26 half-centuries and four centuries. Notably, he is only the second Indian to score 50 runs in both innings of a Test match at Lord's, a feat previously accomplished by Vinoo Mankad in 1952.
