On Monday, the Additional Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad's Civil Hospital announced that DNA matching for the victims of the Air India plane crash has reached a total of 92 samples, which corresponds to 87 distinct individuals due to some duplicates.

Dr. Rajnish Patel informed the press that 47 bodies have already been sent to various districts.

He stated, "We have completed DNA matching for 92 body remains, which corresponds to 87 individuals because of duplication. So far, 47 bodies have been dispatched from here to locations including Kheda, Ahmedabad, Kota, Mahesana, Bharuch, Vadodara, Aravalli, Anand, Junagarh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Mahisagar, and Bhavnagar."

The tragic incident occurred on June 12 when a London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a hostel complex shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, resulting in the deaths of 241 individuals, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

An expert from the UK, who visited the crash site for an inspection, remarked, "We might be able to provide more information later… What we observed is consistent with what you can see here." Meanwhile, the cremation of Vijay Rupani is scheduled for later today in Rajkot, where he will be honored with full state ceremonies.

The Tricolour will be placed over his remains at the Civil Hospital mortuary in Ahmedabad, and approximately 2,000 kilograms of flowers will adorn the hearse transporting his body.

As the identification process continues, officials have assured that each body will be treated with the utmost respect and dignity. The crash resulted in 241 fatalities out of the 242 individuals on board, which included 230 passengers and 12 crew members. The sole survivor, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian descent, is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

Additionally, at least 33 individuals, including local residents and MBBS students, lost their lives when the plane struck the doctor's hostel during the crash.
