Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Challenges Assam CM's Allegations

Gaurav Gogoi Responds to Allegations
On Saturday, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi asserted that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's failure to provide evidence supporting his claims reflects a 'weakness' regarding allegations of Gogoi's supposed connections with Pakistan.
Gogoi, avoiding any clarification about his alleged trips to the neighboring country, urged the public to remain patient, suggesting that in a boxing match, the 'knockout punch' is delivered at the end.
Speaking to reporters in the Majuli area of his Lok Sabha constituency, Gogoi remarked, “It’s not new in politics when the BJP's IT cell makes baseless accusations against me. However, when a Chief Minister makes a statement, we expect him to provide evidence. There should be a distinction between the IT cell's posts and the Chief Minister's comments.”
The Chief Minister and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have repeatedly accused Gogoi and his British wife, Elizabeth Colburn, of having ties with Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI.
Addressing the allegations on Saturday, Gogoi stated, “From day one, we have been asking for evidence. Their inability to provide it shows their weakness.” He further claimed that the delay in presenting supporting evidence would erode public trust in Sarma.
Recently, Sarma mentioned that all evidence would be made public by September 10. In response to this, Gogoi questioned, “Is this a movie with a predetermined release date? Are we watching 'Singham 1' or 'Singham 2'?”
When asked about the allegations against him, Gogoi refrained from giving a direct answer, stating, “The knockout punch is delivered at the end of a boxing match. Everyone must exercise patience.”
Sarma also alleged that Gogoi visited Pakistan at the invitation of the ISI, received training there, and collaborated with the agency. In response to Sarma's comments about his trip to Pakistan, Gogoi pointed out that several senior BJP leaders have also visited the neighboring country in the past.
