Berhampur: On Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended a senior employee from the EPFO Regional Office in Berhampur for allegedly accepting a bribe, according to official reports.


The individual in question served as a senior social security assistant at the Regional Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in Berhampur.


According to a statement from the CBI, the official was arrested for soliciting and receiving a bribe amounting to Rs 10,000 from a complainant.


The agency revealed that the bribe was demanded to facilitate the approval of an authorized signatory application for a private company on the EPFO Portal.


The CBI noted, "Following negotiations, the accused consented to accept a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant," and a trap was subsequently set to catch the official in the act.


A case has been filed against the accused, as confirmed by the CBI.
