Strategic Collaboration for Network Services


New Delhi, June 9: On Monday, Bharti Airtel announced a significant multi-year strategic partnership with Ericsson, which will oversee the management of Airtel's services across various technologies including 4G, 5G NSA, 5G SA, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), Private Networks, and Network Slicing.


This collaboration will enable Ericsson to manage Airtel’s extensive network throughout India via its advanced Network Operations Centre (NOC), while also expanding FWA and Network Slicing capabilities nationwide.


Randeep Sekhon, CTO of Bharti Airtel, expressed enthusiasm about strengthening their collaboration with Ericsson, aiming to build a future-ready network that provides an outstanding experience for customers. He emphasized that these innovative technologies will help meet the increasing data demands of consumers in a digitally connected India.


The agreement highlights Ericsson's expertise in managed services and reaffirms its dedication to providing exceptional value to Airtel's clientele.


Andres Vicente, Head of Market Area Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India at Ericsson, stated that this landmark agreement underscores their commitment to assisting Airtel in delivering the best customer experience. By utilizing Intent-Based NOC Operations, they aim to enable Airtel to diversify its services to better meet customer needs, thus creating new revenue opportunities.


Ericsson and Bharti Airtel have enjoyed a long-standing partnership for over 25 years, covering multiple generations of mobile communication technologies. This announcement comes shortly after Bharti Airtel's collaboration with Ericsson on the 5G Core to facilitate the evolution of 5G.


Airtel is a global communications solutions provider, serving over 550 million customers across 15 countries, including India and Africa, and has a presence in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka through its affiliates.


Recently, Bharti Airtel and Google formed a partnership to offer the Google One cloud storage subscription service to Airtel customers, addressing the growing issue of limited device storage.


All postpaid and Wi-Fi customers will receive six months of 100 GB Google One cloud storage at no additional cost, with the option to share this storage with up to five other individuals.
