Tragic Incident in Odisha
Odisha: A disturbing event unfolded recently when a man was taken into custody for allegedly contributing to the suicide of a young girl. The accused, a 26-year-old tuition teacher named S Sanatan Reddy from Kandeswar village in Digapahandi, faces charges of physically assaulting the victim. Another individual, K Loknath Reddy, who is also implicated in the case, is currently on the run.
Authorities reported that the girl ended her life by ingesting poison. The situation came to light when her brother discovered that she had been exploited by the accused under false pretenses. He found evidence of the abuse while examining her mobile phone and personal belongings, prompting him to file a police report.
According to reports, the victim began attending classes in 2024, during which Sanatan allegedly sexually exploited her with false promises of marriage. The other accused also subjected her to physical abuse on multiple occasions, claiming he could help her improve her exam scores.
In a statement, Loknath expressed his concerns, saying, “When my sister realized their true intentions, she rejected their advances. They then began to threaten her with the release of her private photos, videos, and personal information on social media. Overwhelmed by their threats and worried about our family's reputation, my sister took her own life by consuming poison.” The police are actively investigating the case and have apprehended Sanatan, while efforts continue to locate the other suspect.
