Celebrating Stellar Performances

New Delhi [India] - June 23: Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of Lucknow Super Giants, expressed his admiration for the franchise's current and former captains, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, following their impressive centuries against England during the second innings of the first Test at Headingley.

Pant, who serves as India's vice-captain, and opening batsman Rahul formed a formidable partnership, accumulating 195 runs and placing India in a strong position as the match approaches its final day. While Pant shifted his strategy from aggressive to more cautious, Rahul consistently showcased his solid technique.

Rahul elegantly drove the ball past the sweeper cover and sprinted for two runs, achieving his record-breaking century in just 202 balls. He celebrated by kissing the crest of his helmet and engaging in a brief discussion with Pant. Just seven overs later, Pant secured his own century with a single.

Goenka praised both players on social media, stating, "Two good! Back-to-back centuries for @RishabhPant17. Aggressive, audacious, brilliant. Only the second wicketkeeper in history to score a century in both innings of a Test. Congratulations also to @klrahul for his hundred."

Rahul continued to excel in challenging conditions across England, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia, achieving another remarkable century. He concluded his innings with 137 runs off 247 balls, marking his sixth century in SENA countries, which includes three in England, two in South Africa, and one in Australia.

With this performance, he surpassed the legendary Rahul Dravid, who had two centuries, to become the Indian opener with the most centuries in England.

Pant, who scored 134 runs in the first innings, played a pivotal role alongside Rahul, as they built a thrilling 195-run partnership in the second innings. Pant took his time to transition from 96 to 99 runs and ultimately secured his place in history by becoming the first Indian batter to score a century in both innings of a Test match in England.
