Aamir Khan and Jr NTR to Portray Dadasaheb Phalke in Upcoming Biopics

Aamir Khan Teams Up with Rajkumar Hirani for a Biopic
Two of India's prominent actors, Aamir Khan and Jr NTR, are set to portray the legendary Dadasaheb Phalke, recognized as the father of Indian cinema, in separate film projects.
On Thursday, Aamir Khan revealed his partnership with director Rajkumar Hirani for a biopic focused on Phalke, marking their third collaboration following successful films like 3 Idiots and PK. This film will explore Phalke's significant contributions to Indian cinema, particularly his creation of the first feature film, Raja Harishchandra, released in 1913. Aamir's team expressed that it is surprising that such a pivotal story has yet to be told in Hindi cinema.
The screenplay is being crafted by a team including Abhijat Joshi, Hirani, Hindukush Bharadwaj, and Avishkar Bharadwaj, with insights from Phalke's grandson, Chandrashekhar Srikrishna Pusalkar. Filming is anticipated to commence in October 2025.
Jr NTR and SS Rajamouli Collaborate on 'Made in India'
Meanwhile, Jr NTR, who is currently in the spotlight for his role in the much-anticipated War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan, will also take on the role of Dadasaheb Phalke in the biopic titled Made in India. This film will chronicle the evolution of Indian cinema and is directed by SS Rajamouli, with production by Varun Gupta and SS Karthikeya. Initially announced in September 2023, Made in India is described as a grand cinematic experience that delves into Phalke's life and legacy.
Insiders have shared that Jr NTR has recently been presented with the finalized script, which he found captivating, particularly the lesser-known aspects of Phalke's life. He expressed enthusiasm about portraying the father of Indian cinema on screen.
Dadasaheb Phalke: The Pioneer of Indian Cinema
Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, widely known as Dadasaheb Phalke, was an influential Indian producer, director, and screenwriter, earning the title of 'The Father of Indian Cinema'.
His groundbreaking film, Raja Harishchandra, released in 1913, is recognized as India's first full-length mythological feature film. Over his 19-year career until 1937, Phalke directed 94 feature films and 27 short films. Notable works include Mohini Bhasmasur (1913), Satyavan Savitri (1914), Lanka Dahan (1917), Shri Krishna Janma (1918), and Kaliya Mardan (1919).
