How to:

Lie on your back and bend your knees. The soles of the feet should be on the floor.
Lift your hips and then slide the hands under the buttocks. Palms should be facing downwards. Now, draw the elbows and forearms towards the body.
Inhale to bend the elbows and then press the elbows and forearms firmly to lift the upper body off the floor. Begin to trace the natural curve of the spine.
The shoulder blades should be strong and lift the chest as you lengthen the spine.
Slowly release the crown of the head, back to the floor and put minimal weight on the head.
Stay there with knees bent and hold the pose for 5-10 breaths.
Slowly, come out of the pose.
Number of repetitions: Do this position 5 times holding for 5-10 breaths.

How it helps: It is a great stretch for the chest, shoulders and front body including the abdomen, hip flexors and neck which can be beneficial for hernia patients.
