Ankit Anil Sharma Embraces Warrior Role in Chhaava with Vicky Kaushal
Ankit Anil Sharma's Journey in Chhaava
Taking on the role of a warrior in the newly released historical film Chhaava was a thrilling experience for actor Ankit Anil Sharma, who starred alongside the talented Vicky Kaushal. His current project, Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups, featuring KGF star Yash, is also keeping him busy.
Reflecting on his collaboration with Yash, Ankit remarked, 'Yash pays great attention to detail; he comprehends each scene thoroughly and provides valuable suggestions for enhancement. Beneath his cheerful demeanor lies a dedicated actor. Working with him was a delightful experience.'
Ankit, recognized for his performances in Gulaab Gang, Turtle, Waah Zindagi, Mimamsa, and the popular series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, felt ecstatic when he was cast as Santaji Ghorpade in Chhaava.
'The film revolves around my idol, Sambhaji Maharaj, which made me incredibly happy. Additionally, I was eager to collaborate with Laxman sir and Maddock Productions, so this project felt like a perfect fit for me,' he expressed.
Portraying such a significant character, especially in a grand historical setting, comes with its own set of challenges, but Ankit embraced them wholeheartedly. 'The primary challenge was to develop a warrior's physique while ensuring agility for swordplay and swift movements. A warrior must be nimble yet powerful. I adopted traditional training methods, envisioning how Santaji Ghorpade might have prepared. I joined an akhada and concentrated on fundamental exercises like dand-bethak and uthak-bethak, repeating them numerous times to enhance my endurance and strength.'
Ankit also honed his skills in horse riding and sword fighting, particularly focusing on traditional Maharashtrian martial arts. 'By the time we filmed the action scenes, the footwork felt instinctive,' he shared with a smile.
Regarding Vicky Kaushal, Ankit praised his supportive nature. 'He was always ready to assist us, and I fondly recall how he would give us cues during scenes. I've never encountered someone as genuine and humble as Vicky. He ensures that everyone progresses together. Rashmika also impressed me; I was astonished by how flawlessly she memorized her Hindi lines and delivered them with such ease. Working with both of them was a true pleasure,' he concluded.
