The Hindu festival of Vinayaka Chaturthi is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. On this occasion, many people install the idol of Lord Ganesha in their homes and temples. Along with this, devotees also observe a fast to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The Ganesh Chaturthi fast is a significant ritual dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Observing this fast is believed to bring blessings from Ganapati Bappa and remove all obstacles from one’s life. For those who observe the Ganesh Chaturthi fast, breaking it properly, known as "Paran," is crucial, as the fast is not considered complete without it, and its full benefits are not received.

While keeping the fast is important, breaking it at the right time is equally essential.

Meaning of Paran

In Hindu tradition, "Paran" means breaking the fast. In the context of the Ganesh Chaturthi fast, Paran refers to concluding the fast by offering prasad (holy offering) to Lord Ganesha and chanting mantras. According to the Hindu calendar (Panchang), the auspicious time for Paran changes every year. It is generally believed that the fast should be broken after sunrise the following day.
