A Night of Hope and Support

On July 10, former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh expressed his gratitude towards his former teammates, cricket legends, and family during a special YouWeCan charity event held in London. He emphasized that he and his organization are committed to the ongoing fight against life-threatening illnesses.

The charity event took place just before India's third Test match at Lord's and was attended by notable figures including Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Kevin Pietersen, among others.

In a heartfelt message shared on X, Yuvraj, who overcame cancer in 2011 while playing in the ICC Cricket World Cup, stated, "I am overwhelmed, humbled, and grateful beyond words! Thank you to my friends, family, former teammates, and the Indian cricket team for your unwavering support. Having faced cancer myself, I understand the uncertainty of tomorrow, but I also recognize the power of hope, which is embodied by all of you. Together, we are committed to supporting cancer warriors in India who continue to fight and hope. We will persist, we will fight, and we will never give up. #YouWeCan #YWCGala @YOUWECAN."

During the event, Yuvraj also discussed India's remarkable victory by 336 runs at Edgbaston in the second Test, highlighting the impressive performance of skipper Shubman Gill, who has scored 585 runs in the series, averaging 146.25 with three centuries.

Yuvraj praised Gill's captaincy and batting skills, saying, "Shubman Gill has done an incredible job leading the team and his batting has been exceptional. I am very proud of him, and I believe his father shares that pride. I hope he continues to score many centuries in international cricket."

Reflecting on the Indian team's performance in the second Test against England, Yuvraj remarked, "The team's overall performance was outstanding. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep bowled exceptionally well, and Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant contributed significantly with the bat. I am particularly happy for Akash Deep, who took ten wickets, especially as his sister is recovering from cancer. I look forward to giving him a big hug when we meet."

Regarding the charity event, Yuvraj expressed his gratitude for the support he received, stating, "It feels incredible to see so many people here supporting me and the foundation, including friends and family who have witnessed my battle with cancer. I hope we can raise a million tonight, and if not, we will continue our efforts to do good work."
