The Origin of Quordle
Quordle was created by Freddie Meyer in 2022, inspired by Wordle and Dordle. In January 2023, the game was acquired by Merriam-Webster.
Initially, engineer David Mah developed the prototype, which was later refined by Meyer. Drawing from Dordle, where players solve two grids at once, Quordle was launched in February 2022 and quickly gained popularity, attracting over a million players within weeks.
Merriam-Webster's acquisition in January 2023 was for an undisclosed amount, with the company’s president noting that the game was a favorite among staff and a valuable addition to their game offerings.
