A New Superhero Film on the Horizon

Mumbai: Renowned Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is set to collaborate with the celebrated Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for an exciting superhero movie.

During a recent media interaction, Aamir, who is eagerly anticipating the release of Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20, shared the news.

He stated, “Lokesh and I are developing a superhero film. It’s a large-scale action project that will commence in the latter half of next year.”

Kanagaraj is well-known in the Tamil film industry for his high-octane and commercially successful films, including Vikram featuring Kamal Haasan, Leo, Master with Vijay, and Kaithi starring Karthi.

Aamir also addressed rumors regarding a sequel to his 2014 hit PK, clarifying that he is instead reuniting with director Rajkumar Hirani for a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, recognized as the Father of Indian Cinema.

He remarked, “The idea of PK 2 is just a rumor. I’m working on the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic with Raju.”

Aamir expressed that his most ambitious endeavor is the adaptation of Mahabharata, although he refrained from sharing specifics until he has a solid foundation in place.

He mentioned, “Mahabharata has been my dream for 25 years. It’s not merely a film; it’s a commitment. I’m attempting to bring it to life, but I’m uncertain if I can realize this dream. Until I establish a basic framework, I can’t provide further details.”

When asked about potential sequels from his past films, Aamir highlighted Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and 3 Idiots (2009) as candidates.

He suggested, “A sequel to 3 Idiots could feature the three characters (played by me, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi) reuniting later in life. Similarly, Dil Chahta Hai could explore the mid-life challenges faced by the three friends (played by me, Akshaye Khanna, and Saif Ali Khan), perhaps even seeking therapy, which would make for an intriguing storyline.”
