Yamaha Tricera - Yet another impressive concept
The Yamaha Tricera is a model that sits between a motorcycle and a car. In some areas it is seen as an autocycle. However, it bears a closer resemblance to a car than a motorcycle.
The Tricera comes with a unique design that, according to Yamaha, differentiates it from both motorcycles and cars. Tricera's delta trike design consists of two front wheels and a single rear wheel. Yamaha Tricera has three-wheel steering. A rack and pinion steering at the front is supported by a rear wheel pivot for greater maneuverability.
The design of the Yamaha Tricera features an open-top structure that omits the doors. Instead seat bolsters are used to protect the rider. The Tricera has both automatic and manual steering modes for the rear wheel. Manual modes provide a sense of accomplishment for riders still learning the ropes, according to Yamaha.
There are no details yet on when the Yamaha Tricera concept will transform into a production vehicle. Key specs of the concept EV will be further revealed during the Japan Mobility event later this month.
