Sai Sudharsan's Historic Achievement in IPL 2025

Sai Sudharsan has etched his name among the legends of the IPL by becoming only the ninth player in history to score over 700 runs in a single season. He reached this milestone during the Eliminator match against the Mumbai Indians. As a result, he is currently the holder of the Orange Cap for IPL 2025, being the first player to surpass the 700-run mark this season.




Before the Eliminator match against Mumbai, Sudharsan had already accumulated 679 runs in 14 matches. In the match against Mumbai, he scored 21 runs, bringing his total to 700. Prior to him, only Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill had managed to score 700 or more runs in a single IPL season. Sudharsan also recorded his sixth fifty of IPL 2025 in the Eliminator match, in addition to having one century to his name.




Other notable players who have achieved the feat of scoring 700 or more runs in a single IPL season include Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, David Warner, Faf du Plessis, Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, Kane Williamson, and Mike Hussey.




Sai Sudharsan is leading the race for the Orange Cap by a significant margin. Currently, Suryakumar Yadav is in second place with 673 runs, putting Sudharsan ahead by over 60 runs. His performance has consistently improved each season; last year, he scored 527 runs. His outstanding form has earned him a spot in the Indian Test team for the upcoming tour of England.
