Celebrating Rohit Sharma's Legacy

Suryakumar Yadav, a prominent batter for India and the Mumbai Indians, expressed his congratulations to Rohit Sharma following the unveiling of a stand named in his honor at the renowned Wankhede Stadium. This tribute from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) acknowledges Rohit's significant contributions to both Indian and Mumbai cricket.

The official inauguration of the Rohit Sharma Stand took place on Friday evening during a grand ceremony attended by Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other notable figures.

Suryakumar, who has played alongside Rohit for both the national team and the Mumbai Indians, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram to commemorate the occasion.

“Congratulations @rohitsharma45 on achieving incredible things on the cricket ground, from finisher to opener to our captain, you have been an inspiration and our pride, in every role.

Very rarely comes a leader who leads from the front, and changes the game for the better. You are that leader who has changed not just the game, but the approach, the attitude, the dressing room atmosphere, the team, and redefined the role of a captain.

Like I have said before, good things happen to good people, and you deserve it all and more. Wankhede just got even more iconic,” wrote Suryakumar Yadav.

The recognition of Rohit Sharma comes shortly after he announced his retirement from Test cricket, marking the end of a remarkable career in the format. Since his debut in 2007, Rohit has become one of India's most celebrated cricketers.

Throughout his career, Rohit has participated in 67 Tests, 273 ODIs, and 159 T20Is for India. He was a member of the victorious 2007 T20 World Cup team and, as captain, led India to triumph in both the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025. Additionally, he guided India to the final of the World Cup 2023.

Rohit has also secured five IPL titles with the Mumbai Indians and one with the Deccan Chargers during his IPL journey.

In addition to the Rohit Sharma Stand, the MCA also inaugurated the Sharad Pawar Stand, Ajit Wadekar Stand, and the MCA Office Lounge, all dedicated to the memory of former MCA president Amol Kale.
