Joe Root Shines with Historic Century in Third Test Against India

Joe Root's Remarkable Performance at Lord's
The third Test match between India and England is currently underway in Leeds. During this match, England's star batsman Joe Root has finally ended his wait at his favorite venue. At the iconic Lord's Stadium, Root scored a memorable century in the first innings against Team India. This marks his 37th Test century, allowing him to surpass legendary Indian batsman Rahul Dravid and Australian star Steve Smith.
The Test match commenced on July 10, and on the first day, Root returned unbeaten on 99 runs. All eyes were on him to see if he could complete his century on the second day. Root successfully overcame the nervous nineties, achieving this milestone. He completed his century with a boundary off the very first ball of the day, moving up to fifth place among the batsmen with the most centuries.
In this match, Root had to step in early for England after they lost two wickets for just 44 runs. He stabilized the innings alongside Ollie Pope, putting the team in a stronger position. Later, he partnered with captain Ben Stokes, and together they ensured no further wickets fell until the end of the day's play. However, after reaching his century on the second day, Root eventually lost his wicket.
Joe Root's Record-Breaking Achievements
With 37 centuries to his name, Root has now surpassed former Indian batsman Rahul Dravid and current Australian star Steve Smith, both of whom have 36 centuries each. This achievement places Root as the fifth-highest century maker in Test cricket, following legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, and Kumar Sangakkara.
