Jasmine Paolini Reaches Semifinals at Miami Open for the First Time
Paolini Makes History at Miami Open
Jasmine Paolini has advanced to the semifinals of the Miami Open for the very first time in her career.
The sixth-seeded player triumphed over Poland's unseeded Magda Linette with a score of 6-3, 6-2 on Tuesday, marking her as the first female competitor to reach the tournament's final four this year.
With this achievement, Paolini becomes the first Italian woman to reach the semifinals at the Miami Open. Previously, six Italian women had reached the quarterfinals, the latest being Martina Trevisan in 2023.
In the semifinals, Paolini will compete against the top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka, who secured her spot by defeating ninth-seeded Qinwen Zheng from China with a score of 6-2, 7-5 in their quarterfinal match on Tuesday night. This match concluded a day that saw several matches delayed due to rain.
On the opposite side of the women's draw, quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Wednesday, featuring fourth-seeded Jessica Pegula from the U.S. against Britain's Emma Radacanu, and second-seeded Iga Swiatek facing off against Alexandra Eala from the Philippines.
