Rajasthan Royals Aim for Redemption Against Chennai Super Kings After IPL Setback
Rajasthan Royals Reflect on Loss to KKR
Guwahati (Assam) [India] - After suffering a defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2025 on Wednesday, Rajasthan Royals' interim captain Riyan Parag expressed the team's commitment to addressing their errors before their upcoming match against the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Quinton de Kock's outstanding performance propelled KKR to an eight-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in the sixth match of the IPL 2025, held at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
This win marked KKR's first points in the ongoing 18th season of the lucrative league, while the Royals faced their second consecutive loss.
In the post-match discussion, Parag praised De Kock's exceptional play, noting that he secured the Player of the Match title with an impressive unbeaten score of 97 runs off 61 balls, featuring eight fours and six sixes.
“We aimed for a score of 170, which would have been competitive. I felt I rushed my innings, knowing the pitch conditions. We fell short by about 20 runs. Our strategy was to dismiss Quinny early, but that didn’t materialize, so we focused on containment during the middle overs. He performed excellently, and I commend him for that. Last season, I was asked to bat at No. 4, and I was fine with that. This year, I’m batting at No. 3, and I’ll adapt to whatever the team requires,” Riyan Parag stated during the post-match presentation.
Additionally, the 23-year-old emphasized the importance of learning from this defeat, looking forward to their next match in the ongoing IPL season.
“Our team is younger this year compared to last. It’s crucial for us to come together as a unit for the entire match. We are performing well in segments, but it’s time to deliver a complete performance to secure favorable results. We will learn from our mistakes and ensure we don’t repeat them as we prepare for Chennai with a renewed mindset,” the Royals' interim captain concluded.
