Quinton De Kock Shines as KKR Secures Victory Against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025
De Kock's Stellar Performance Leads KKR to Win
Guwahati (Assam) [India] - March 27: Following a remarkable display against the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Quinton De Kock shared his thoughts after scoring an impressive unbeaten fifty in the sixth match of the tournament.
De Kock was named Player of the Match for his outstanding innings of 97 runs off 61 balls, achieving a striking strike rate of 159.02, which included eight fours and six sixes.
In the post-match interview, the wicketkeeper-batter expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to contribute to the defending champions. He stated, “It felt great to get my chance, and I aimed to make it worthwhile. Honestly, I haven't faced any significant challenges yet. After a three-month break, it was refreshing. I had a brief 10-day preparation for this season. This was only my second game, so I'm just taking it as it comes. Fortunately, we batted second, allowing me to observe the pitch and how the ball reacted. I focused on playing according to the game's situation. While the IPL is famous for high scores and massive sixes, my priority was simply to secure the win.”
Additionally, the 32-year-old discussed the pitch conditions at Barsapara Cricket Stadium during the second innings. He remarked, “I enjoy meeting new people and adapting to new settings. It's about finding your place within the team. Sometimes acceptance takes time, but with KKR, I felt welcomed right away, which is wonderful. The pitch wasn't suited for that style of play; the ball was turning and stopping. It was a challenging wicket. If we encounter a better pitch in the future, we can discuss strategies, but today was all about grinding out the win.”
De Kock's exceptional batting propelled KKR to an eight-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in the sixth match of IPL 2025 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
This win marked KKR's first success in the ongoing 18th edition of the lucrative league, while the Royals faced their second consecutive defeat.
