Riyan Parag Fined for Slow Overrate in IPL Match Against CSK
Riyan Parag Penalized for Overrate Violation
In a recent Indian Premier League match, Riyan Parag, the acting captain of Rajasthan Royals, has been penalized with a fine of Rs 12 lakh due to a slow overrate during the game against Chennai Super Kings, which ended in a narrow six-run victory for his team.
The Royals scored 182 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, successfully limiting CSK to 176 runs for 6 wickets. This match marked Parag's leadership debut for the season, taking place at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in front of enthusiastic local supporters on Sunday.
According to the IPL's official statement, this fine was imposed as it was the first instance of a slow overrate for the team this season, falling under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate violations.
After suffering a defeat in their opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals are set to compete against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on April 5.
