Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 7: Mohammed Siraj, who has regained his form and confidence, is determined to "stay in the moment" and "enjoy" his bowling during the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Acquired by the Gujarat Titans for an impressive Rs 12.25 crore during last year's mega auction, Siraj is beginning to justify his hefty price tag. His journey with GT didn't start smoothly, as he conceded 54 runs without taking a wicket in the opening match against Punjab Kings.
Despite this rocky beginning, Siraj quickly turned things around, showcasing his remarkable speed and skill by taking wickets at crucial moments throughout the innings.
In a thrilling match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in his hometown, Siraj electrified the crowd with a stunning performance, even mimicking Cristiano Ronaldo's famous 'Siuuu' celebration, while achieving his best T20 figures and reaching the milestone of 100 IPL wickets.
Having been left out of India's Champions Trophy squad, a decision he found hard to accept, Siraj is committed to continuous improvement and cherishing every moment on the field. "I aim to learn something new each day. My focus is on the present and enjoying my bowling," he shared during a candid conversation with GT captain Shubman Gill in a video released by the IPL.
Siraj concluded the match with remarkable figures of 4/17, marking his best performance in T20 cricket and surpassing the 100-wicket milestone in the lucrative league. The occasion was made even more special as his family was present to witness his outstanding display of skill.
"It's indescribable to perform in front of my loved ones. They only come to watch me at one venue, and I can't put that feeling into words right now," Siraj expressed.
His impressive wicket haul included notable players like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Aniket Verma, and Simarjeet Singh. Siraj's relentless bowling effort limited Hyderabad to a modest total of 152/8, which GT chased down comfortably, securing a seven-wicket victory thanks to Gill's unbeaten 61.
