Mitchell Starc Continues to Haunt Nicholas Pooran in IPL 2025 Clash
Starc's Dominance Over Pooran
In Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on March 24, Mitchell Starc once again proved to be a significant challenge for Nicholas Pooran in the T20 format. During the IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, Starc ended Pooran's aggressive innings with a stunning reverse-swing delivery.
The Lucknow Super Giants were in control, largely due to the relentless batting from Mitchell Marsh and Pooran. After Marsh's dismissal, Pooran took it upon himself to lead the scoring efforts.
He unleashed a barrage of four consecutive sixes against Tristan Stubbs, amassing 28 runs in a single over. Pooran seemed set to continue his aggressive play until he faced Starc in the 15th over.
Starc's delivery sent the stumps flying as Pooran attempted to hit it away, only for the ball to swing back late, resulting in two stumps being uprooted. This marked the fourth time Starc has dismissed Pooran in just six T20 innings, and notably, the second time in the IPL within just four balls.
During his explosive innings of 75 runs off 30 balls, Pooran scored 60 runs from just 18 balls against pace bowlers, while managing only 15 runs from 12 balls against spin.
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals opted to field on a favorable pitch. Aiden Markram was dismissed early, but Marsh and Pooran capitalized on the conditions.
They dominated the DC bowling attack, forming an impressive 87-run partnership for the second wicket. Just as LSG seemed poised to surpass 220 runs, Mukesh Kumar dismissed Marsh, who scored a quick 72 off 36 balls, catching him out at long-on.
Pooran soon followed Marsh back to the pavilion, and LSG's hopes of a massive total dwindled. However, David Miller, known for his finishing skills, stepped up at the right moment, hitting two sixes in the final over to help LSG reach a total of 209/8.
