Match Highlights: LSG vs SRH

In an exciting IPL encounter on Thursday, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a five-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), thanks to Shardul Thakur's impressive four-wicket haul and Nicholas Pooran's explosive batting performance.

Shardul Thakur continued his remarkable comeback, finishing with figures of 4/34, which played a crucial role in limiting SRH to 190 runs for nine wickets. Pooran showcased his extraordinary hitting ability, scoring 70 runs off just 26 balls, including six fours and six sixes.

The duo of Pooran and Mitchell Marsh (52 off 31) formed a rapid partnership of 116 runs for the second wicket, enabling LSG to chase down the target in just 16.1 overs.

Despite a shaky start with the early dismissal of Aiden Markram, LSG quickly gained momentum through the aggressive batting of Marsh and Pooran.

Pooran was particularly dominant, hitting massive sixes off Simarjeet and Abhishek Sharma, and he reached his fifty in a record time of just 18 balls, smashing a six off Adam Zampa.

Although Pooran's innings ended when he was trapped in front by Cummins in the ninth over, Marsh continued to build on the innings, reaching his half-century in just 29 balls.

While LSG captain Rishabh Pant (15 off 15) had a quiet outing, Abdul Samad's late cameo helped secure the win.

Earlier in the match, opting to bowl first, Shardul Thakur set the tone by dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan in consecutive deliveries during the third over.

Travis Head (47 off 28) looked dangerous, aggressively attacking the bowlers, particularly Avesh Khan, where he scored 18 runs in one over.

Head was fortunate to survive two dropped catches, but his luck ran out when Prince Yadav claimed his wicket, marking Yadav's first IPL success.

Henrich Klaasen (26 off 17) was also looking threatening but was run out in an unusual manner, while SRH captain Pat Cummins (18 off 4) hit three sixes in his brief innings before departing.

Karthik Praises Kohli's Continuous Improvement

Chennai: After opting to bowl first, Shardul Thakur's early strikes set the stage for LSG, who restricted SRH to 190/9. Travis Head's fireworks and late contributions from Aniket Verma (36 off 13) and Pat Cummins helped SRH post a competitive total. In response, LSG lost Aiden Markram early, but Pooran's rapid fifty and Marsh's steady innings guided them to victory in just 16.1 overs. This performance solidifies LSG's strong position in IPL 2025, while SRH will need to reassess after this defeat.
