The constable, identified as Ankit Tomar, aged 20, was retrieved from the muddy waters by divers but was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded when a 23-year-old woman named Aarti, a resident of Vaishali Sector 2 and originally from Sardhana, Meerut, leaped into the canal. Aarti, who had married a man named Aditya six months prior, reportedly had a dispute with her husband earlier that morning.

While Aarti was successfully pulled to safety, TSI and Tomar became trapped in the muddy depths.

Patil further explained, “The TSI managed to free himself, but Tomar remained stuck. Divers eventually succeeded in retrieving Tomar, who was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.” The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
