TMC MP Yusuf Pathan Opts Out of India's Operation Sindoor Delegation to Pakistan

TMC's Stance on Operation Sindoor
Yusuf Pathan, a Member of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), will not participate in the central government's 'Operation Sindoor' initiative, which aims to highlight Pakistan's support for terrorism. The Indian government has included Pathan in a multi-party parliamentary delegation set to visit 30 countries. However, the TMC has expressed that his inclusion was made without prior consultation with the party.
Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of TMC, questioned how the central government could decide on a representative for the TMC without discussing it with the opposition. He emphasized that the BJP should not dictate which representative the TMC sends.
TMC's Support for National Interests
Banerjee further clarified that while the TMC stands united with the government in efforts to combat terrorism and protect national sovereignty, the decision on who should represent the party in the delegation should be made by TMC itself. He condemned Pakistan's attempts to disrupt peace in India but insisted that the party leadership must determine its representatives.
The multi-party delegation consists of seven groups, each led by a different MP. This initiative is designed to counter global misinformation and showcase India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Sources indicate that neither Pathan nor any other TMC MP will be part of this delegation visiting various countries to address cross-border terrorism.
TMC's Commitment to National Security
According to TMC sources, the party believes that the nation comes first, and they have pledged to support any necessary actions taken by the central government to protect the country. They expressed gratitude towards the armed forces for their contributions to national pride. The TMC reiterated that foreign policy falls under the central government's jurisdiction, and it is solely responsible for determining and managing it.
To address global misinformation and reinforce its zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, the Indian government has deployed seven multi-party delegations, including members of parliament, to over 30 partner countries.
