Rajnath Singh Calls for Global Unity Against Terrorism

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized in a recent post that combating terrorism is a collective responsibility rather than an option. He urged the global community to unite in eradicating this menace at its roots. Singh also highlighted his article in a prominent publication, where he discussed India's battle against terrorism and the path forward on a global scale. In his piece, he described terrorism as a curse on humanity, thriving on misleading notions of revolution, martyrdom, and violence. He pointed out the dangerous myth that 'one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter,' asserting that true freedom cannot be built on fear and bloodshed.

In the article, Singh made a strong appeal for global solidarity in the fight against terrorism, emphasizing the need for a universally accepted definition of terrorism. He called for the financial isolation of countries that sponsor terrorism, particularly Pakistan, and stressed the importance of dismantling both state and non-state terrorist networks. The misuse of religion to justify violence was also warned against, alongside highlighting Pakistan's internal risks, including nuclear security. Singh underscored the significance of international cooperation and urged the world to support a binding comprehensive convention against international terrorism, echoing the legacy of leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Rabindranath Tagore, who advocated for a collective moral global response.

Singh stated that it is essential to dismantle the foundational structures of terrorism. Noting that Pakistan uses terrorism as a tool, he mentioned that India has successfully isolated Pakistan diplomatically and economically. He revealed that India has 'suspended' the Indus Water Treaty until Pakistan reliably renounces its support for cross-border terrorism.
