Court Sentences Man to Life Imprisonment
A special court in Meerut has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the rape of a minor, a case that dates back nearly two years. The court also imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on the convicted individual, as reported by local police on Saturday.
According to police reports, the special judge under the POCSO Act, Sangeeta, found Manish, also known as Max, from Anup Nagar Fazalpur, guilty on Friday and handed down the life sentence along with the monetary penalty.
The case originated in 2023 when a woman filed a complaint at the Kankarkheda police station, alleging that Manish had raped her underage daughter and threatened her to keep silent about the incident.
Law enforcement officials stated that they registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act, leading to his arrest. The victim's family informed the court that their daughter was a junior-level judo player, receiving coaching at her school, where Manish served as the coach and perpetrated the crime.
